Buying the Right Air Purifier

We all know what an air purifier is but, unfortunately, many of us don't know how it works. Moreover, we are ignorant of the features to look for when we want to buy it. But you have to know which air purifier to choose and what to look for when shopping for it.

buying-rightThe efficiency of air purifiers is measured with the help of the Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, MERV rating. Most manufacturers of air purifiers do this. And this rating is very popular in the industry. That's why, it can be used as you compare the different brands of air purifiers you come across. So, the MERV rating begins from 1 and stops at 16. And if an air purifier has a higher MERV rating, it considered to be efficient. Most manufacturers usually state this rating on their product. Having a rate between 6 and 12, your air purifier is considered to be good.

There is another industry standard that is used to measure the rate of delivered clean air. This is the CADR. The air purifier manufacturers measure the processing of air volume of the most popular airborne particles which are smoke, dust and pollen. The higher the CADR level for a contaminant, the more efficient it is at processing the contaminant. However, it is good to select an air purifier with high CADR number for all three components.

But you also have to think over the air filter before ever acquiring an air purifier. You should check out the prices of replacement air filters since this is one item that you will be changing often.

So, looking for a better air purifier, you should get a genuine air filter as it is more reliable and will not harm your air purifier. But if you can't afford expensive air purifier, then choose OEM air filters.
