Having the warm air humidifier, you will be protected from cold during the winter season. Such humidifier is much better than the average heater as it does not dry up the air. Be sure it will save you from dry skin and chapped lips. It is also good in treating colds or sinus problems because it can thin out and dry the mucous lining. Physicians often recommend it to soothe nasal passages and sore throats. Such humidifier keeps the air moist that helps a person breathe properly and prevent flu. Moreover, it is even great for children and babies because medications can be added to the water, so they can be protected from any respiratory disorder.
However, there are also disadvantages of this humidifier. Evidently, heat in it is created through boiling water and giving off steam. Thus, you should keep it away from children to prevent burns. But it should also be kept away from upholstery and carpets so as not to destroy them.
Not all people like these humidifiers. Some of them are not satisfied with its high energy consumption and many of them are not comfortable with the moisture that this air humidifier gives off. They think it makes the air very hot and sticky, unlike the cool air humidifier which is self-regulating and retains the right amount of moisture in the air.
In spite of its disadvantages, many people prefer the warm mist humidifier as it does not generate much noise compared to the cool mist humidifier. This air humidifier does not pose the danger of giving burns to anybody. Moreover, it is not difficult to maintain it.
As every humidifier, it requires regular cleaning. Even if there are no bacteria present in the steam it gives off, its water reservoirs remain warm and prone to bacteria. In addition, these filters also need to be changed regularly to maintain its top working condition.
