High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance or HEPA filters are very specific type of air filters used in homes as well in medicine offices and laboratories. They were designed to save from radioactive particles from nuclear reactor facility exhausts. Now HEPA air filters are widely used to remove small particulates such as allergens and other common irritants from the air.
